Attendance and Certificates

What we expect from you in class, and what your Alalamia certificate shows once you have earned it.

Why attendance matters

Our courses are built around practice: labs, case studies, group work and discussion with your trainer. Much of what you learn happens in the room, or in the live online class, and cannot be fully replaced by reading the slides afterwards.

Regular attendance also keeps your group moving together. When everyone is present and prepared, the trainer can go further, answer questions properly and give each learner the attention they need. This policy explains how we record attendance and how it links to your Alalamia certificate.

The 80% attendance requirement

To receive an Alalamia certificate of completion, you need to attend at least 80% of the scheduled training hours of your course. Your trainer records attendance at every session, in person and online.

If your attendance falls below 80%, you will not receive a certificate of completion for that course. You may still receive a letter confirming the hours you attended, on request. Where you missed sessions for a reason you could not control, speak to us as early as possible so we can look at make-up options before the course ends.

  • Attendance is counted in hours, not just days, so late arrivals and early departures count.
  • Make-up sessions agreed with us count towards your attendance.
  • Watching a recording helps you catch up but does not count as attendance.

Lateness and leaving early

Please arrive a few minutes before your session starts so you are settled and ready. Arriving more than 15 minutes after the start, or leaving more than 15 minutes before the end, is recorded as late or early, and the time you miss is deducted from your attended hours.

Repeated lateness disturbs the group and the trainer. If it becomes a pattern, we will talk with you about it, and it may affect your eligibility for a certificate. If you know in advance that you will be late, let your trainer or our office know.

Missed sessions

Life happens, and we try to be practical. If you miss a session, tell us as soon as you can. Depending on the course, we may be able to help you catch up through one or more of the following, where available.

  • A recording of the session, if it was a live online class that was recorded.
  • Notes, exercises or lab work from the session, with time to ask your trainer questions.
  • A make-up session, or attending the same session with another group, seat permitting.
  • For longer absences, a transfer to a later group under our transfer rules: after a course starts, one free transfer is possible if you have attended less than 25% of it.

Live online classes

Live online classes follow the same 80% rule as classroom courses. Attendance is recorded by your trainer, using the class register and the session's join records.

We ask you to keep your camera on for most of the session, especially during discussions, group work and practical exercises. If you have a good reason to keep it off for a while, agree this with your trainer. Please join from a quiet place, use your real name, and take part as you would in a classroom.

A stable internet connection is your responsibility. If your connection drops, rejoin as quickly as you can and tell your trainer. Short interruptions that you report are not counted against you; long or repeated absences from the call are.

Where sessions are recorded, recordings are for enrolled learners of that group only, are available for a limited period, and must not be downloaded, shared or posted anywhere.

Assessments and practical work for diplomas

Our diploma programmes ask for more than attendance. To receive an Alalamia diploma, you need to meet the 80% attendance requirement and also complete the assessments set for the programme.

These may include practical projects, lab tasks, written tests, presentations or a final assignment. The programme outline you receive at the start explains each assessment, the deadline and the mark you need to pass. Work must be your own, as set out in our Code of Conduct.

If you do not pass an assessment, you will normally be offered one resit or resubmission. Learners who meet the attendance requirement but do not complete the assessments may receive a certificate of attendance instead of the diploma.

What your Alalamia certificate shows

Every Alalamia certificate and diploma carries the details that an employer or institution needs to understand and check it.

  • Your full name, exactly as it appears on the ID document you registered with.
  • The title of the programme or course you completed.
  • The number of training hours.
  • The completion date.
  • A unique certificate ID, which anyone can check on our Verify a certificate page.

When certificates are issued

We issue certificates within 10 working days of the end of your course, once attendance is confirmed and, for diplomas, once your final assessment results are confirmed.

Certificates are released when your course fees are fully settled under the payment terms agreed in writing. We will tell you when your certificate is ready, and you can collect it from our office in Mazzeh or receive a digital copy. For corporate groups, we can send certificates to the organisation's training contact.

Replacements and corrections

Please check your certificate as soon as you receive it. If there is a mistake that is our error, such as a misspelt name or a wrong date, we will correct and reissue it free of charge.

If the error comes from details you gave us at registration, or you need your name changed after a legal name change, we can reissue the certificate once you show us the supporting ID document. A small administrative fee may apply, and we will tell you before we proceed.

If you lose your certificate, contact us with your full name and, if you have it, your certificate ID. We keep records of the certificates we issue and can provide a replacement copy; a small administrative fee may apply for a printed replacement. The certificate ID stays the same, so earlier verifications remain valid.

Our certificate and an international certification

An Alalamia certificate or diploma confirms that you completed training with us, and, for diplomas, that you passed our assessments. It is our own award, issued by Alalamia.

An international certification, such as one from a technology vendor or a professional body, is awarded by that organisation when you pass its exam and meet its requirements. We prepare you for those exams, but the certification itself comes from the awarding body, under its own rules. Exam fees are separate from our course fees and are paid to the exam provider.

Alalamia is an Authorised Test Centre for Pearson VUE and Prometric, so many of the certifications we teach can be sat at our centre in Mazzeh. Our Book an exam page lists the exams we deliver, and our team confirms the exact exam with you before you register. Whatever the exam route, we can prepare you for any certification we teach.

Attendance also affects other parts of your enrolment. If you attended at least 80% of a course and sat the related exam within 3 months of finishing, you may re-attend the same course once, free of charge, seat permitting, if you rejoin within 6 months.

For withdrawals, transfers and refunds, please see our Refund and Transfer Policy. If you disagree with an attendance record or a certificate decision, you can raise it through our complaints process: we acknowledge complaints within 2 working days and give you a full answer within 10 working days.
