ITIL® 4 Strategic Leader
ITIL 4 Strategic Leader recognises professionals who can shape digital and IT strategy and lead how technology creates value across the whole organisation. It is held by IT directors, heads of service, digital transformation leads and managers preparing for senior leadership.
The designation is awarded once you pass two modules, ITIL 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan and Improve and ITIL 4 Leader: Digital and IT Strategy, each with its own exam, building on ITIL 4 Foundation. Candidates usually bring several years of IT or management experience, and preparation works through both syllabi with strategy case studies, guided discussion and mock exams.

Renewal and validity
PeopleCert asks ITIL holders to renew within three years: you can retake the same exam, pass any other certification in the ITIL suite, including the newer ITIL (Version 5) modules, or join a PeopleCert membership that includes its CPD programme and log 20 CPD points a year for three consecutive years. If you do not renew, your record is marked as needing renewal, so check PeopleCert's current policy, particularly as it moves the scheme from ITIL 4 to ITIL (Version 5).
