This expert-level certification proves that you can deploy and run a Microsoft 365 tenant end to end, bringing identity, security, compliance and every workload together. It is held by senior Microsoft 365 administrators who act as the integrating hub between workload, identity and security teams.
You earn it by passing exam MS-102 while holding at least one associate prerequisite: Endpoint Administrator, Teams Administrator, Identity and Access Administrator or Information Security Administrator. Candidates have hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 workloads and Microsoft Entra ID, and our MS-102T00 Microsoft 365 Administrator Essentials course follows the exam skills outline with guided labs on tenant setup, Entra identity, Defender XDR and Purview compliance, plus practice questions. Microsoft has announced that this certification and exam MS-102 are scheduled to retire, so check the current timeline on Microsoft Learn before you plan.

Renewal and validity
Until it retires, the renewal assessment opens six months before expiry, is free, unproctored and open book, and each pass adds one year, independently of your associate prerequisite. After retirement it can no longer be earned or renewed and stays active only until its expiry date, so check Microsoft's current policy on Microsoft Learn.
