EC-CouncilEC-Council Certified Penetration Tester (CPENT)
EC-Council Certified Penetration Tester (CPENT) proves that you can carry out advanced penetration tests across complex, segmented networks, from Active Directory and web applications to IoT, OT and cloud targets. It is designed for experienced penetration testers and red team members who want a demanding, practical credential.
Rather than multiple choice, CPENT is assessed through a long, fully hands-on exam in a live cyber range, where you find and exploit vulnerabilities and report on them; the highest scorers can also earn the LPT (Master) designation. Preparation follows the CPENT curriculum with extensive range-style labs, pivoting and exploitation practice, and guidance on professional report writing.

Renewal and validity
CPENT sits within EC-Council's continuing professional education (CPE) scheme, previously called ECE, so you log 120 credits over each three-year cycle through relevant activity such as events, training, research or newer exam versions, and pay the same annual continuing education fee as other credit-based EC-Council certifications. EC-Council revises these terms from time to time, so check its current CPE policy and fee schedule.
