EC-CouncilEC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C-CISO)
The EC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO) credential recognises senior leaders who can run an information security programme at executive level, balancing technical controls with governance, risk, strategy and finance. It is held by CISOs, security directors and senior managers on the path to the top security role.
Candidates first submit an eligibility application showing substantial verified experience across the C|CISO domains, then sit a multiple-choice exam that tests executive judgement as much as technical knowledge. Preparation works through governance, risk, compliance and audit management; organisational executive leadership; security controls, programme management and operations; core security competencies; and strategic planning, finance, procurement and third-party management, using case discussions and exam-style practice.

Renewal and validity
C|CISO is valid for three-year periods and is renewed each period by earning 120 credits under EC-Council's continuing professional education (CPE) policy, alongside an annual continuing education fee set specifically for C|CISO holders. EC-Council updates its candidate handbook and CPE policy from time to time, so check the current requirements before your period ends.
